I've been using this macro for the last couple of months and find it useful. If anybody wants it feel free, but don't complain if it eats your document (save first before running) It comes with absolutely no warranty or support

I use it on a chapter at a time (3k wordish) I’ve tried a couple of chapters, but wouldn’t try a whole MS.

It does two things, lists the number of times each word is used and then lists up to ten of the closest occurrences of the same word. I find working up from the bottom of the list suits me. Any word that has only been used twice and is closer than 50 words needs looking at.

Written and used on PC Word 2010, pretty certain it will run on 2007, no idea about earlier or Mac.

Hint: 2007/2010 have macro’s hidden and you have to enable developer tools before you can create one.

It’s also on the links page of the site.

Good luck
