Title : Ace Elliott & the Battle of the Millennium Dome (3rd revision)

Author : Jason Bromfield

Genre : Action, Children's Fiction, Novel, Fantasy, Teenage Fiction

Review Extract from: neil a randall

"Review of 'Ace Elliott...'

Being a little older than your ideal target audience, I wasn't sure if I would enjoy reading this extract. But was more than pleasantly suprised. You write with a fluid, confident, assuredness that I'm sure would appeal to younger age groups as well as adults. After the mysterious opening scene with the boy, which I'm sure you will bring together as the story unfolds, I really liked the way you travelled around the various landmarks of London slowly bringing the plot to the fore. This is a very original idea, but seems somehow embedded in the classic storytelling mould of the genre, which is no bad thing. I wish you the best of luck with it and appreciate the opportunity of reading this extract."

Synopsis
Strange things are happening in London. Ace Elliott is on a sightseeing trip with her father when she experiences something unbelievable and unexplainable. What she finds out is that there is going to be a war, and she will be in mortal danger.

I'm so pleased to see you showcasing this one. I was the 4th reviewer and, as the writer requested, pulled it apart. After the fifth review it hit the charts at number 40. I was horrified. I'd given Jason 27 marks because the story/plot, themes/ideas etc have great potential. I wondered why it wasn't higher up the charts. I hope he will be encouraged by your showcasing his writing. I do hope you let him know.

Timber Beast calls this Reviewer's Remorse. Only the nicest YWOers suffer from it.

Oh what a cute leopard you are.

I was worried in case he removed mine, when in fact it is probably one of the higher marks, then he might sink further!

You can be strangely low in the charts with the first five reviews, as well as strangely high.

Come to think of it, one can be strangely low with the first twenty reviews...

Reviewer's Remorse - it sounds like a serious condition. Probably something for which treatment can be funded by the Arts Council. We'll email the writer. He is doing well.

Have a good weekend !

Forget the email. Send a case of Guinness. As Hemingway may have said, 'that will clear it up.'

Have a great weekend.

My remorse condition can be funded? I should like to point out it is a very serious condition.

I suffer from remorse for marking too high, too low and also for marking too middle of the road.

Triple funding please. Enough to buy me time to write please.

Hi Anna

No need to feel remorse. I'm just happy that my story has generated some interest, and I welcome all the pointers and corrections that the reviewers gave me.

I have since updated the work using these pointers, and continue to try and improve it.

Now I just need to get higher up the chart!!

Cheers,
Jason B

Hi Jason, I wasn't really feeling remorse for the mark I had given you, 27 is not a disaster. I could not think how you could possibly be sitting at number 40 with reasonable reviews. I thought maybe some so and so had given you all ones or something. I have looked at your statistics and it seems you have not attached a credit for over 30 days - attach one and you will shoot up the charts - I hope. Good story. I had a few remorseful feelings thinking I should have been more encouraging but you did say to pull apart!!!!! I haven't checked today so you may already have attached a credit.
