I'm not sure this is quite the right board for this question, but I'm hoping someone can help point me at some information or advice...

I was wondering if, in the non-fiction world, authors and/or publishers can actually be held accountable for writing and publishing potentially dangerous misinformation?

My understanding is that the various news, television and radio media have bodies that can hold a newspaper, TV channel or journalist to account for printing or showing untrue, libellous comments etc.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for making a complaint about printed material in a non-fiction book that could be dangerous? Or is it a lost cause?!

Thanks in advance!

What an intriguing question!

It depends on the country it is published in, the country you reside in, and local laws, of course.
