Hello all, tomorrow will be the 06.06.06 and will be the release date of the new Omen film, but......

Get up early and you can also have:-

6 o'clock, 6 minutes and six seconds

So that would be:-

6,6,6,6,6,06

Well done to the production compnay for getting the best publicty for a film release via a date.

I thought the original book was a lot beter than the film, so it will be interesting to see if they have done it justice with the new film.

All the best.

The world is supposed to end today. I hope it doesn't happen until I've seen whether Woodsmoke made it into the top 30!

My son tells me that the Aztecs predicted the world wouldn't end 'til 2012. So don't worry Eileen, you've got another six years.

After today, The Omen might be our new bible - those of us who're left anyway and haven't been taken up in the rapture. Maybe that's why the film's being released today I haven't noticed anyone from the office disappearing in a puff of smoke yet though.

Hi Richard

Hope you're having a suitably Satanic day! (Love this emoticon!)

Actually, THE OMEN was not based on a book. Rather it was an original screenplay by David Seltzer (based on an idea by some Hollywood executive or other).

When it became obvious the film was going to be a success, a novelisation was commissioned... but it was based on the script not vice versa. Having said that, the film does feel like it might have been adpated from a book...

Apparently, the re-make is based pretty much word for word on the 1970s script... which begs the question: why bother re-making it? Esp when the original is rather good. I remember it scared me half to death when I saw it as 10 year old!

Still, as you say - what marketing department could resist today's date? Ah, marketing depts - today Hollywood and publishing; tomorrow - the world!

G.

Hi Guy, the book version goes into more detail than the film. It was a shame that the detail wasn't put into the film as it would have added so much more to it.

I agree about remakes can be a disapointment.

Look at the original Boris Karlof Frankenstien. Brilliantly played, lots of emotion from him, but the later ones......So bad!!!! Meets the werewolf, meets dracula etc.

The same could be said of Halloween. The classic. Had everything in it including a great set of music to enhance the film. Again the later ones are a bit rough and add nothing to the original.

I like the orginal Omen, but part 2 was a bit bad, and the third was a total waste of time.

It seems that some ideas get played out, a bit like when Bilbo says he feels like too little butter has been spread over bread.

Take an orignal idea, do it and leave it alone. Never go back.

All the best.

Wasn't there a 4th one... about a demonic lampshade or something (this is not a joke)? Or am I thinking of another horror franchise?

Hi Guy, there was an Omen 4:-

Omen IV:The Awakening

I'm not sure if I saw this one, it may appear on the Sci Fi channel, so I will look out for it.

Just think if it is your birthday today and you are 66! EEEEkkkkk!

All the best.

It's 7.37 and we're still waiting for this ratpure thing to happen I dressed smart but casual, put on clean knickers and everything, and the world is still the same as ever. Apocolypses aren't what they used to be.
